Well, today marked the first day of Gracie's dance career!!! I was so proud of my little baby in her leotard (which she calls "tard"...I really hope she never says that in class) and her ballet shoes! It really did make me cry! We have been on the waiting list for this class for quite some time now and so all of the other girls have already had 10 classes prior to this one. I think there is still hope that Gracie will catch up and be ready for the recital at the end of May!

Gracie's 2nd birthday party was absolutely everything that I could have ever imagined! We had so much fun! This video montage is probably pretty long, but it's a great peak at all of our main activities for the party. Well, I no longer have a baby lump around the house...I'm so proud and so sad at the same time that he's become mobile! It totally feels like any last bit of baby boy time is all gone :( Gracie didn't begin to roll until 7 1/2 months, so this is totally different for us. Hope you enjoy this little clip!

Went to the Chapel and We...

GOT MARRIED!!!! Wayne and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary last Friday and it was unbelievable! We decided it was a good time to renew our vows and it turned out to be a wonderful decision...our new church opened its arms to us for the event and Wayne and I had a very intimate ceremony with the two of us and our pastor. It was so romantic in the sanctuary all by ourselves and the words never meant more.
I was able to surprise Wayne with a night out on the town. Mamita kept Tommy and Grandma and Grandpa kept Gracie at our house and we headed uptown with cell phone ringers on high :) We checked into our hotel and walked to dinner and after an amazingly expensive meal and royal treatment we decided to head straight to our room for some major relaxation! We were stuffed from the finest steaks and lobster and creme brulee! We didn't get a call all night and it was almost too good to be true! We hope to be able to do more of this more often because Wayne has been offered a new position with Time Warner that we are absolutely thrilled about! Things are looking up for our next five years!!!!

and yes, we actually will share the same birthday forever! I will certainly never forget my 30th! Wayne and I welcomed little Tommy on Saturday at 11:15 in the morning after arriving at the hospital at about 2:00 the same morning. He is a bruiser weighing in at 8 lbs. 12 oz. and he is 20 3/4 in. He has red hair just like his sister's. Gracie immediately hugged and kissed her baby brother and did very well holding him with her Papa. We'll see how things pan out when we actually get home :) Hope to talk to you all soon and we'll post all of our new pictures tomorrow!

So, I'm a little late posting this, but it actually snowed here last week one morning and it was beautiful!!!!! We love the view from our house when everything is covered with white and Gracie really did let us know that she was experiencing different sensory amazements as well when she looked out the door. She kind of oohed and aahed and smiled and kept checking in with us for us to explaining what the heck was going on. The rain came and made everything rather yucky, but it was so cool while it lasted!
In other news, Gracie gave up the bottle cold turkey last weekend and Wayne and I could not be more proud of our little girl. Actually, big girl! It's totally crazy how much she changed in one weekend. She uses her sippy cup now to drink milk and eats everything we do and it's so fun to go out and let her eat at the table with us. She talks to everyone that walks by and is so proud of herself!

Well, we just got back from Georgia and we are so excited because we finally got to meet all of the Blakey babies. Jacob has the twins Georgia and Dakota and you would not believe how adorable they really are! Lacey has two boys with the reddest hair that are as sweet as can be. It was so much fun watching Gracie play and interact with all of them. I'm so glad they traveled so far and that we were able to visit. We also got to see Chad and Felecia and there baby Mason who is soooo strong! And Gracie also had fun playing with Ella and we got to see Sarah Jane and Anna, too! It was a busy weekend...Gracie had her first haircut from Papa and Mommy cried because she looked like such a big girl in that chair! We took Gracie riding out in the country and she drove for the first time with Daddy...too cute! We're gearing up for the big birthday party this weekend and we'll be sure to have a special post for that :)

We had an absolute ball tonight! As many of you know, Gracie goes to bed really early, so we had to do our Halloween business fast tonight! We celebrated in Grandaddy's neighborhood by participating in the annual parade. It was so fun to see all of the little ones dressed up. Aunt Anna had the awesome idea of decorating Gracie's stroller and she was noticed by everyone in her little spider outfit. We decided that we liked her best in her all black outfit that was underneath the costume, though. Hope everyone had a wonderful evening!

Since We've Been Home

Okay, I promise that I will try to get better about updating this thing. I've even been slack about her Shutterfly pictures, but I will do better from now on. I actually don't take nearly as many pictures, so I think that might have a lot to do with it now and I don't take the time to upload videos like I should, so I'll work on that, too!
Grandma and Grandpa came to visit after we came home and we had tons of fun and did our usual thing. Grandpa plays with Gracie while Mommy and Grandma go shopping all day long. Actually, Gracie got a really bad cold the week we got home and so she spent a lot more time with Mommy just in case of any major meltdowns. Gracie's Godmother came for a short visit and Gracie loves to spend time with her. We hope we'll be seeing her again this week! Wayne's Dad and Nana Debbie came to visit the next weekend and things were different for their visit, too. Mommy and Daddy are on a major diet and they got a taste of our world for a couple of days. Not sure that they loved it, but I was told it was worth it to get to hang out with Gracie. Although, Wayne's Dad is a favorite among the dogs and they might have enjoyed the spoiling a little too much :) They cry and cry and mope around the front door after he leaves...it is so sad, but so sweet! It's exactly what I have to look forward to when Gracie gets old enough to really understand things like that. Grandma came by herself last weekend and we had a great visit then, too. We never have enough time to get everything done that we want to do...especially with a certain someone in tow. Totally different and totally worth it. Gracie is nursing as usual again. She does have another tooth finally and surely working on more, so I pray every time that she doesn't bite me. We are ready for #2, but it looks like that might have to wait another year or so. Grandaddy and Anna came to visit today and we made ghosts for Anna to decorate her house with. I can't wait for Gracie to be older so that we can work on creative things together!

I Know I've Been Slack...

My baby is all grown up it seems and I have had no time or energy to keep this thing going lately. Again, where do I start? I don't want to leave anything or anyone out, so this might be a long one. Gracie had so much fun at Tybee. It was awesome because we were right on the beach and right at the pool, so she got lots of swimming in. She also got to go for walks on the beach with Paula's jogging stroller. Everyone took turns feeding her which was really nice for Mommy and Gracie was so happy! Mamita sat with Gracie every morning on the patio watching the birdies flying over the ocean. Aunt Paula and Uncle Chris visited us a lot and Gracie loved them! Paula is so good with children and I loved seeing her with Gracie. She gave Gracie her first hair clips and dos just like I remember her doing with Anna. We also got to visit with Christina again and she had Gracie working the runway the whole time being wild. The last week there my Aunt Carolyn was finally able to make it for a visit and I was so excited for Gracie to meet her. Gracie has the Hassett eyes for sure and Aunt Carolyn was yet another reminder of this. The end of the trip was spent with just me, Gracie, Carolyn, and Grandaddy, so it was awesome! Uncle Gregg couldn't make it this time, so when he meets Gracie he will get baby duty running around chasing her to make up for lost time, ha! No, she's not crawling yet, but she started rolling from her back to tummy at the the beach and now she just rolls everywhere...at least until something stops her, i.e. couch, wall, you name it. She scoots backwards when she is on her belly, but this child is nowhere near being sturdy enough to get on all fours yet. We are so happy to be back at home with Daddy and the doggies. Gracie has been getting formula more and more because Mommy's body no longer wants to cooperate. We are trying our best, but I feel nursing might be over very soon. I guess the bright side is that maybe now we can start working on # 2!

Can't Keep Up!

I feel like Gracie has had so much going on lately that I don't even know where to start...Well, tonight Gracie met Aunt Paula and Uncle Chris for the first time and Mommy didn't even get any pictures taken :( We'll see them more and soon because we have now relocated from Seabrook to Tybee for two weeks. I have been gone all summer it feels like and this time for a month straight. It seems so crazy being away like this and I'm starting to wonder if Gracie will even recognize things or like her crib still. Thanks to Wayne's Dad the dogs have also not been at our house all summer since I've been gone, but it's also weird because it's like Gracie won't even know them and vice versa when we do go home. Deuce Bigalow Hassett is here with us and Gracie loves to try to pull his hair, too cute!
So, Gracie had a lot of fun at Seabrook. She sat in the sand and felt the waves come in for the first time and we also were able to take a trip to Charleston to see Aunt Christina and the yacht that she now works on. She and Gracie were so cute together and it was so neat to climb aboard and explore. Gracie does officially have a tooth now, although you can barely see it and I'm sure she is working on more. We'll keep you posted as usual :)

So Much For The Updates

Well, Gracie and I are enjoying our second trip this summer to Seabrook. We'll be here for two weeks and I had planned to really get this thing updated with some pictures, but they aren't stored on this computer, so I will tell you about everything and probably make a montage when I get home.
After Grandaddy's birthday we went to Greenville and Gracie got to meet Coleman and Becca for the first time. She loved them, of course. And I loved being in Greenville. I can't wait to move back someday. We made the special trip for Gracie to meet Bud's mother and that was really nice. She lives in Indiana, so we don't see her much at all and Gracie has only one other great grandparent whom she spent a little time with at her dedication.
We left Greenville for Gracie's first trip to the lake. She had a blast there and loved to ride around on the boat and the golf cart and feel the wind in her face and hair with Daddy. She also experienced her first ride in a swing. It was perfect!
When we came back to Charlotte Mary Hampton and Ben came to visit and that was wonderful as usual. Gracie and Ben interacted so much more this time and we know they are going to be trouble together in September for their next visit. I can't wait! I suspect they will both be crawling by then...
Last week, Gracie turned 6 months old and made lots of changes all at once. I'm sure most of you know that she is sitting up now and teething terribly. The bottom two are right there and the things just won't make their debut. Liitle bit only weighs a little more than 15 pounds, so she hasn't grown much. We started rice cereal and vegetables and she loves to eat and help Mommy put the spoon in her mouth...too cute!
Since then, Anna has been to stay with us and so have Nana and Mary Ellen. We celebrated grandpa's birthday yesterday which was lots of fun! So far this trip Gracie has only been swimming at the indoor pool...we'll keep you posted! Love to all!

Gracie's Big News

We finally got a chance to get together with someone very special this morning, Mary Ellen Lindsey, and asked her to be Gracie's Godmother. We are so honored that she accepted! Wayne refused to designate godparents for Gracie until we realized how much Mary Ellen cares about our little one. I mentioned the idea to Wayne and he immediately wanted to ask her...she truly is the perfect person for Gracie to have in her life as someone that will always be there for her. We love you Mary Ellen!

Grandaddy's Birthday

On the 9th Gracie celebrated her first birthday with Grandaddy and she did it in style. Mamita got Gracie her first float and she loved it! She swam in the pool with Anna and Grandaddy and even gave a few little kicks...we're going to swim again tomorrow night, so I'll let you know how that goes, too. Gracie gave Grandaddy his favorite mustard from Carnegie Deli in New York and it appears he was happy her choice. She loved his birthday balloon and almost got his cake before he could blow out the candles!

I can't help but write about Gracie's first birthday party that she went to on the 8th. It was so much fun and Gracie was a perfect little angel for me. My friend Amy that I grew up with has a daughter named Grace and she just turned 1. Amy made the cutest sand buckets of toys for the babies, so Gracie is fully prepared for her beach trip in August now. I cannot wait for Gracie's first birthday...I think it's time to start planning :)

Well, Gracie didn't get to see her Daddy today because she and I are still at the beach and Daddy needed to get home to take care of things, but the two of them celebrate how wonderful their relationship is every day. Wayne is absolutely the best Daddy and husband in the world. I couldn't ask for a better family man. Wayne called this morning and I led him on a scavenger hunt for his hidden card. I totally scored because I got a good cry out of Daddy! I love you so much, honey! Thank you so much for working so hard for Gracie and I. We can't wait to see you!

Seabrook, here we come!

This is us as we arrived a week ago. There is no better feeling to me than arriving at the beach. Gracie was such an angel on the trip. Mommy was worried since we were by ourselves. She mostly slept and we met Grandma and Grandpa for lunch and drove another 30 minutes together. We love our villa and have had a great time so far. Gracie has pretty much stuck to her usual routine. It took a few days for Grandma and Grandpa to settle down and let Gracie sleep, etc. She has lots of new things going on. She loves to literally suck on her toes now. We have moved on from just playing with the feet. She also loves to juggle her beach ball with just her feet, too cute! She is sitting up some on her own and she loves to growl over and over very loudly. We call her Monster Baby when she does it and she cracks up, as do we! Gracie took her first dip in the pool. She was pretty quiet the whole time and fell asleep immediately afterwards, so we will try it again when she is more alert and let you know how it goes. Daddy so sweetly joined us on Wednesday and just left a couple of hours ago. Mommy literally had a nervous breakdown with her crazy hormonal emotions taking over her. I'm still crying if that helps to get my point across. We won't see him for at least another 2 weeks. We are such a close family now it really makes it hard when we are apart. Hello, we are at the beach, though and I am sure I will make it through :) Hope you enjoy some pictures. We have a good internet connection now, so I will try to keep this updated a little more.

The Deck is Complete (Well, Almost)

Wayne worked so hard on this deck. He has wanted it for so long and we both absolutely love it. It's crazy how different it feels to sit out there now. He just has some pieces of railing to put up and then he will clean it and stain it. Yea!

Yesterday was Anna's birthday and we had a wonderful meal cooked by Chef Christina. Gracie and I didn't get to stay too long to see all of Anna's gifts, but this is kind of how things got started. Face painting! How fun! Every time Anna does something new I just can't wait for Gracie to get to experience it. We are headed for Seabrook Island tomorrow for 2 weeks and then I will be in Greenville for a while. I'll try hard to get things updated while we are gone, but who knows what kind of connection I will have, if any.

New Boyfriend

Last night, Gracie got to hang out with baby Caleb and she absolutely loved him! He is a month older than Gracie and belongs to Chris and Kristina Simmons. I used to work with Kristina at the vet clinic and we have stayed in touch ever since. It has been awesome sharing our new experiences with each other. I think the babies would have been giving each other kisses if they actually knew how. It's great because I think they are so similar in personality right now!

Yesterday, we went to a dance recital for Katie's daughter and it was soooo cute! Katie is my best friend in the neighborhood and I felt like Brooke was my own because I was so excited and emotional about the event. Little girls are so cute! I am so proud of her and can't wait for more of this type of thing in my life with our children and our friends!

Duck Eggs

For those of you who do not know, we have had a male and female duck in our back yard for quite some time and have been waiting to see little ducks waddling around here and today Wayne finally found the nest with at least five eggs! We are so excited and cannot wait for Henry and Caroline to be parents. As you can see, we consider them to be part of our family and named them after Mary Ellen's twins because we love those names together. I really feel like every time I look out back we discover some new addition to our wildlife sanctuary. Rabbits, ducks, owls, deer, snakes, cats, and even your everyday birds building nests all over. Bailey and Katie have really enjoyed watching after the newest baby bird in the bottom of our grill! I'll keep you posted!

I think that is Gracie's new name. Wayne wonders what people would have thought if we had actually named her that, but it certainly seems to be all that we call her these days. I even sing a song to her using it. Don't laugh, I know you all know that Moms do crazy things, especially when you spend all day with your little one. I try to be creative, but sometimes I give up and feel guilty because my brain isn't working harder for her. Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that Gracie made it through her 4 month checkup. Four shots and she is napping very soundly right now. I was really proud of her because she screamed of course, but settled down fairly quickly. She weighs 14 lbs. 5 1/2 oz. I love her so much! Can you tell?

I am finally an Aunt, yeah!!!!! I have the most adorable niece to brag about now. She is so sweet and tiny and I cannot believe that Gracie was like that only four short months ago. I hate that she is no longer a baby like that, but I love how she is changing every day. Myers was born May 18th and weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and is 19 inches long. Everyone is doing really well and I am sure I will continue to include her pictures on here when I get to visit!

Sorry, we have taken so long to post anything new. Let's see, my favorite news is that Gracie found her foot for the first time yesterday. I think that is the cutest thing!

Thank you to everyone that attended a very special day for us and Gracie. We really appreciate it! I feel like I have the best baby in the world. I'm sure all Mom's say that, but we were so nervous that she was going to fuss in front of the whole church and she didn't make a peep. She was good all day for visitors and Mommy and Daddy got to spend time with so many people and really enjoy it. She wore the same dress that I was Christened in and it is originally from 1892 and is from my Mom's side of the family. Hope you enjoy a few pictures...

Anna's First Communion

I can't believe I forgot to write about this right away. I am a bad big sister, sorry Anna! Anyway, last Sunday, Anna had her first communion and I have never seen a more angelic little girl. She was so sweet in her white dress and veil, and so nervous, too! I kept teasing her about how she had to go to church every Sunday now because she was official. Gracie lasted all of about five minutes in the actual church and so she and Daddy roamed around most of the time. Gracie wore her Aunt Christina's hand smocked dress that I absolutely adore. Good thing she wore it to church for some cleansing since it belonged to her wild auntie. Just kidding! Grandma and Grandpa are visiting tomorrow through Tuesday and then we head to Georgia until Gracie's dedication on Mother's Day. What an awesome way for me to spend my first Mother's Day. I'm headed to Greenville after that for the birth of my first niece or nephew and I can't wait. I'll be staying all week for my cousin's graduation, so I hope I can still keep in touch and upload pictures in a timely fashion. Have a great weekend!

He calls them Moose cups, has anyone else ever heard of this? We have been busy today getting ready for our garage sale this weekend. It's amazing how much stuff you can think of to sell when you are broke living on one income. The more I am here, the more I want things to be simpler anyway. Yeah right, I'll just end up filling the house up again with new things. Wish me luck!

Well, Gracie went to her first steeplechase today, the Queens Cup here in Charlotte. We had a great time with Grandaddy, Mamita, and Anna and her friend. Gracie was so good and it made me feel really good about being able to go somewhere without any resources and be out in the open with family. We took her Bumbo and people went crazy when they saw her in it...it really is an amazing invention. Also, we are convinced that Gracie is trying to cut some teeth. We have been suspicious for a while, but now she is really baring down hard on those gums and becoming quite fussy about it in the afternoons. I just hope it isn't too hard on her...I feel so sorry for her and oh my goodness, how could I forget...Gracie rolled over this week. She went from her tummy to her back. Mommy was so proud of her and went crazy. Gracie already knows her mommy is a little off her rocker with excitement when she does new things, but this was extra special! Daddy still hasn't seen her do it and I am trying to catch it on video to send to everyone. I changed some settings on this blog so that anyone can post comments now. You don't have to create an account or anything crazy like that. By the way, Mary Hampton, where is your blog that you said you would start?

Sorry we haven't spoken lately. Gracie needs more and more attention and finding free time is getting harder and harder. Daddy has been really busy, so as soon as his extra things slow down it should be better and we can spend more time on here. Gracie went to her first Baby Shower this past weekend. We took a trip to Washington, Georgia. What an event! We had two adults, two children (Anna stayed with us for about a week), and three doggies. I think it's time for a bigger car...Wayne just wants to get a plane! We had a great time and got to see lots of people. Wayne's Dad gave Gracie some really awsesome Easter gifts and she really enjoyed them. It's going to be hard to decide which pictures to post, so be sure to view her Shutterfly pictures when you get a chance. Love to you all and hope to see you soon!

Well, we got to see Gracie's boyfriend again yesterday and it was short, but so awesome. We saw them a little less than three weeks ago and we were amazed at how much our little babies had grown and changed. We drove the babies crazy again with tons of pictures! At least I know I'm not the only mom that takes a lot, Mary Hampton took over 1000 pictures during her travels, whoa! Thank goodness for digital cameras...

First Easter!

So, I cried when I got my little angel dressed yesterday...I couldn't believe she was going to celebrate her first Easter. Easter has always been such a special occasion to me and I was so happy to share it with my daughter and family. She was so sweet all day and didn't even scare Daddy while we were out to eat (he panics if she even thinks about letting any noise out of her mouth when we are in public.) She received a huge book about bunnies that Aunt Anna immediately started reading to her. Too cute! We were also so happy to have had Grandma and Grandpa here the whole week during Grandma's spring break. We stayed busy as usual and Grandpa quickly realized how much Gracie has already changed and fell right back into place taking care of her the whole time...Mommy loves to have a break and actually get to see what her baby does from a different view, it was great!
In other news, Gracie is really trying hard to roll over so maybe we'll cross that bridge this week. She still likes to make bubbles with her mouth and smiles all the time! Grandma brought my silver rattle from when I was a baby and Gracie loves it, it is so precious! Don't forget to look at the link for Gracie's pictures. I'm still updating that about once a week.

Big Big Weekend

First off, this is the second time I have tried writing this blog because the first time I was so emotional I decided I sounded like I needed to be sent away heavily medicated. Anyway, we are so absolutely blessed to have such good friends and family. We had such a special visit from Mary Hampton and her new son Ben this past weekend. Mary Hampton and I were due days apart, but Ben is a month older than Gracie. It was so awesome to spend time with them and see a best friend of mine with a child, too. I can't even put what I am feeling into words. Ben is a doll, look at the two of them sitting on the couch like an old couple, too cute! I have promised to get over my fear of flying to go out to Flagstaff and visit them, too. How could I not?

In other news, Gracie has found her lips and her saliva. She loves to sit and try to blow bubbles, but ends up making noise with her lips and spitting. She does it over and over, Wayne and I just die laughing listening to her! She is an old soul for sure!

Lots of new news

So, yesterday Gracie made major steps toward holding her head by herself. Last night, she found the TV and that was all it took. She has finally decided to hold her head completely on her own and she is apparently addicted to TV, also! Auntie Anna decided she could spare us some time last night since she is on Spring Break and not leaving for Savannah until Wednesday. You see, she says she otherwise never has time to come over here since she has school, homework, church, religion homework, and religion class, and of course tennis. Poor thing! We all absolutely enjoyed her company. Gracie is in love! There is nothing like a sweet child entertaining your baby. She dressed Gracie, gave her a bottle, read books to her, and talked and played. She got more smiles...I have missed alone time with my little sis and I couldn't be more proud of her!

Yeah, Little G finally got to meet Aunt Christina! I have a feeling these two might have some wild times together...Christina has been in New York since November and was not able to come south until this weekend. She cooked some good southern ribs for us, Grandaddy, Mamita, and Aunt Anna. We were so happy to see her and can't wait to spend more time with her soon! Gracie had her usual fun with Grandma and Grandpa this weekend, too when they visited. Grandpa Bud loves to spend time with Gracie and I can see that the feeling is definitely mutual. He loves to push me and Grandma out the door to have some grownup girl time alone that is much needed :) FYI: Never watch a scary movie while holding your baby. We watched Derailed while I was giving Gracie her late night bottle and I was so startled at one particular gunshot scene. I looked down and I have never seen my daughter's eyes so big. I felt so bad!!! She survived, of course and I think she is finally getting back to her normal habits after those dreadful shots last week. I am hoping for a full night's sleep again soon although, her smiles and cooing makes it all worth it. She truly is a miracle...

Well, I knew the day was coming, but it doesn't make it any easier. Yesterday was Gracie's 2 month checkup. The doctor says she has this growing thing figured out. She is 11 pounds 10 ounces and measures in at 23 1/4 inches long. I'm really not sure why the nurse insists on keeping her diaper off for so long, the poor thing tee teed twice, once on the scale and once on the table. Daddy had her both times and was so embarrassed. I always remind him that Gracie can smell fear and will be sure to give him something whenever he is nervous in public :) The shots were awful, she screamed and mommy cried and then mommy cried even more last night with Gracie because she decided she was going to do it all night long. I knew I was due something terrible like this to knock her out of her routine, I mean I had a perfect little angel that has been sleeping from 11 pm to 7 am for the past week and a half. Who was I kidding? That schedule is nowhere in sight now. I shouldn't complain, I feel so sorry for her because she really isn't herself even today. The same nurse reminded me that she wouldn't remember this, but when she is 5 years old it will really break my heart to see her go through this...some motivation!

Hey everybody! So I'm just getting started with this and have no clue what I am doing. Gracie has decided to fall asleep on mommy while I am doing this making it even harder to type, so this will be short for sure. I love using Shutterfly and will keep doing that for most of our pictures, but I really want to talk to everyone, too and thought this might help add some creativity to things, also.
